My prayers and condolences to all of my cousin’s in Detroit. I am truly heartbroken and sadden by Sam’s passing. I got up on Thursday, May 13th and sent Sam and cousin Michael a text message and neither of the two responded. I am going to miss talking to Sam all the time, he called me day or night to say, “What’s up Cathy, this is your favorite cousin Sammy D……according to Belinda, or to simply say, “I love you Cathy because you always tell me what is right whether I want to hear it or not and I cannot get mad at you because you are telling me the truth.” I could always count on Sam to say something funny or to simply hear him tell me the latest going on in Detroit with family. We grew up being very close cousin’s and I will always cherish those fondest memories even into our adulthood, Sam never forgot about me and never failed to tell me that he loved me and appreciated me. I would never openly admit to Sam he was my favorite cousin but somehow he always knew it because he would say it everytime when he called, “This is your favorite cousin Sammy D, or Denardo as I affectionately called him jokingly.” Sam had a wonderful personality, full of life and love for all of his family and friends. Sam’s smile and laughter was truly infectious and there was never a dull moment with him in your company. He will truly be missed and I will always cherish our fondest childhood memories of family, love, and laughter. He left us with a huge void in our hearts and I am truly going to miss him. R.I.P., Sam Love Always, Cathy
